Hi to you too, ce...Hi, Jacko, welcome to the blog.

Hi to you too, cerebus. :)

All I know about Contempt, apart from their name, is that they were produced by Martin Rushent.Steve W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09191442559702617745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3176232028550764413.post-9276938184225278972012-05-19T02:09:11.740+01:002012-05-19T02:09:11.740+01:00Pretty much agree with Cerebus on songs. Only reason anyone could have put it on is that she is a TOTP fave - one of the Cliff club. No clue or explanation as to why she recorded it though.

The star act was clearly occupied the opening slot, thyat at this time they used as a nod to less 'formulaic' music. Anyway, some research (no further than the iPlayer page, in fact) came up with the name Contempt. here is the link (below) Saying that, I could find absolutely zero else at all on the web. Meanwhile, some wag at the BBC is clearly having a laugh/been to the boozer/on their last day in the job by including Uriah Heap.

Otherwise, Steve, spiffing blog. Came across it during my research, but you are clearly having even more fun watching these re-runs as we are.

Cheers
- Jack

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01hr9rw/Top_of_the_Pops_28_04_77/Jackohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09621236627890121864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3176232028550764413.post-90517996785950365412012-05-19T00:44:01.277+01:002012-05-19T00:44:01.277+01:00I've finally got round to watching this and, y...I've finally got round to watching this and, yet again, it's a very strange edition of TOTP.

A couple of the acts ( Kiki Dee, Barry Biggs )are doing totally forgettable follow-ups to much better songs, that first band are beyond atrocious, Joe Tex is fighting with his mic stand, 10CC's performance is so arch it could probably hold up a decent-sized ceiling, and DLT is a complete twat.

...on second thoughts, it's not that strange at all...Simon B https://www.blogger.com/profile/07719757386457800087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3176232028550764413.post-21677660522665167222012-05-17T22:37:10.534+01:002012-05-17T22:37:10.534+01:00The Henry VIII gag...there are no words.
